The 2008 BioForward Annual Conference responded to member interest in building strategic partnerships and long term alliances. A number of informative and thought provoking activities took place including:

  • Ernst & Young kicked off the day with an overview of "Beyond Borders 2008" highlighting how the biotechnology industry is fundamentally reinventing itself in light of patent expirations, and the growth in personalized medicine and globalization.
  • Large pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare and research products companies presented their business strategy and criteria for selecting partners.
  • Sessions on a variety of topics that included innovative solutions to funding challenges, government’s role in encouraging partnerships, establishing yourself to be a desirable partner, partnering opportunities in global health, and more!
  • Exhibit Hall that highlighted 40 companies and supporting organizations.
  • Congressional leaders keynoted the "Just Before Election Day" luncheon and discussed each party’s view of biotechnology’s impact on the new economy.
  • Presentation of the Rising Stars of Wisconsin’s Bioscience Industry Awards.

This full-day conference closed with a reception and a special keynote by Governor Jim Doyle.
