BioForward is pleased to offer this professional development program to our members in 2010.

Choose from a variety of seminars and peer learning programs designed to meet the needs of those working in science and technology based organizations.

Program Overview

Effective Communication (Wed, Sept 15, 8am-noon)
Complete a DiSC behavioral assessment and receive a customized DiSC profile to assist you in identifying your communication style and how to relate to other technical and non-technical people. Develop specific communication strategies and identify tips to communicate effectively in different modalities to ensure your communication efforts lead to mutual understanding.
Member Fee: $75. Non-Member Fee:$100.

Effective Presentation Skills (Wed & Thurs, Oct 13 & 14, 8am-5pm)
In this session, all participants will prepare and deliver a short presentation and recieve individual feedback from the instructor. Students will learn how to prepare effective presentations, cater to different audiences, controlling nerves and how to utlize their communication style.
Member Fee: $250. Non-Member Fee:$300.

Performance Management (Wed, Nov 10 8am-5pm)
Understand the importance of performance reviews and how to properly prepare for and lead a discussion. Practice coaching techniques and gain insights into how to mentor others. Identify when to use corrective action to manage performance.
Member Fee: $125. Non-Member Fee:$150.

Coaching and Developing your Team (Wed, Dec 8, 8am-5pm)
Learn the dynamics of how to effectively coach different types of team members. Form a development strategy for your team and practice how to seamlessly alter your management style depending upon the situational variables.

Foundations: The Science Behind Managing People

A 14-week program on the science behind core management and leadership approaches, while learning to avoid falling into the latest fads in this unique program developed specifically for BioForward. Meet peers across the bioscience community and further your professional network. Here is what some course participants have to say about the course:
